Felt is a non woven fabric. Needle felting is the art of using a sharp, barbed felting needle to tangle fibers. Because the needle can be directed by the user it becomes a sculpting and ‘drawing’ tool. These felting needles were developed to be used by the woolen mills to create felt. The hand needle felting process involves poking fiber with a felting needle to cause matting or felting. Needle felting artists create wonderful handcrafted felted sculptures of Teddy Bears, animals, dolls, as well as flat felted clothing, hats and many other items.
